Women of color in the music business will emerge from the new empowering collaboration between Motown Records and Google.

The Motown Records Creator Program is a program that allows artists to create music for Motown Records.

The Google-sponsored program aims to identify and fund the next roster of outstanding female content creators, videographers, or creative producers/directors.

The Motown Records Creator Program provides opportunities for women of color in the music industry to engage with Motown Records executives and the label's roster of musicians.

Motown's commitment to breaking down barriers for talented creatives reflects in the initiative, continuing Google's ongoing mission to "amplify underrepresented voices" in entertainment.

The partnership

Aside from this, the program also ensures diverse, equitable representation across the media landscape, the release states.

Motown Records Chairwoman & CEO Ethiopia Habtemariam announced that the program would provide opportunities for women creatives to "elevate and even further develop their craft."

"I'm looking forward to all of the diverse content from the selectees and partnering with a dynamic woman to create culturally driven innovations that connect globally," Habtemariam added.

Similarly, Google Entertainment Partnerships Lead Elle Roth Brunet reiterates their commitment to the diversity initiative.

They expressed excitement in providing "well-deserved resources" to an inspiring woman of color who will be working alongside Motown's artists and label.

"Google firmly believes that everyone deserves to see themselves equally in every room and throughout the media we consume," Brunet continued.

However, Motown's Records Creator Program is not the only diversity initiative that Google has launched for emerging women artists of color.

Issa Rae's RAEdio Creator Program

Just like Motown's latest partnership, this is not the first diversity-driven initiative that Google has co-spearheaded in the past month.

Emmy-nominated Issa Rae has joined forces with Google last January to launch the "Raedio Creator Program Supported by Google" initiative with her music label Raedio.

Similarly, the program will select two women of color artists and composers to work with Issa Rae's Raedio.

Google and Raedio will then help the selected artists create a music video for their work chosen.

Aside from the incredible feat, Raedio will also guide artists on releasing and distributing their music to digital music service providers.

Raedio's Music Supervision division will also help look for ways to include the artists' work in Hollywood films, once available.
