Diplo hyped his fans with a new solo album after 18 years.
For years since his debut, Diplo never stepped out of the spotlight. Instead, he began working and collaborating with other musicians after dropping his solo debut album.
But years after working with partners and groups, the record producer confirmed his solo return through a new album.
In a new interview with Input Magazine, Diplo shared further details about his "first proper Diplo album since 'Florida.'" The new project features his first single with Miguel, titled "Don't Forget My Love."
According to musical genius, creating the music video for the single was crazy as he took a 6:00 a.m. flight after wrapping a show in New York City.
"I left the video shoot so beat up - my leg hurt from moving around. I went straight to Mammoth to take my kids snowboarding. I still haven't recovered, actually," he said.
He also revealed that the plot of the video, which is set to be released on Facebook this week, focuses on him and Miguel being friends. He then suspects Miguel's new girlfriend and starts feeling something is wrong.
As Diplo does his research in the music video, he finds out that the woman is like a monster who tries to eat Miguel in the end. He compared the woman to "The Fly" Jeff Goldblum, saying that she is like a literal monster in the video.
Why Did He Release a Solo Album?
Elsewhere in the interview, Diplo revealed the real reason why he planned to drop a new album after 18 years. Per the producer, he made a lot of records amid the pandemic. He reportedly aims to create a constructive album with dance music but found it hard to complete the project.

"I've been making dance music and house records for the last five, six years, and I want to put a record out that reflects that and give it to people as a package and let people vibe with it. You know, the world's opened up again; I'll be on tour this summer. I feel like this is the album I want to put out," he continued.
Though he is releasing his new album, he also shared whether he ever considered pulling his music from Spotify following Neil Young's exit. Per Diplo, he does not have any solidarity with Neil Young. Thus, he did not listen to him and try leaving the platform.
