Montero Lamar Hill, more commonly known as Lil Nas X, earned five of the nominations this 2022. These include Album of the Year for "Montero", Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video for "Montero (Call Me By Your Name), and Best Melodic Rap Performance for "Industry Baby" with Jack Harlow.

On what seemed to be a big night for Lil Nas X, as he is predicted to bag the Best Music Video and Best Melodic Rap Performance, turned out the other way around.

Lil Nas X left the MGM Grand Garden Arena last Sunday, Apr. 3, wheeling only an injured SZA and no Gramophones at hand. He failed to earn any of the five, including the two he is unanimously predicted to take home.

The 22-year old rapper lost his Best Music Video GRAMMY and Album of the Year GRAMMY to the most-awarded artist of the night, Jon Batiste, for his music video for "Freedom" and 2021 album "We Are," respectively.

On the other hand, his and Jack Harlow's shared Best Melodic Rap Performance GRAMMY for "Industry Baby" went to Kanye West, The Weeknd, and Lil Baby's "Hurricane."

Lastly, his Record of the Year and Song of the Year GRAMMYs were lost to Silk Sonic's back-to-back historic win for "Leave the Door Open."

But before the night ended, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow delivered yet another show-stopping and controversial performance with a medley of "Dead Right Now," "Industry Baby," and "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)." Youtube

Lil Nas X's New 'Song'

Despite the loss he had that night, Lil Nas X did not let the defeat ruin his evening.

But hours after, the rapper took to Instagram to reflect on his losing moment as he snapped a video while singing a made-up song he freestyled to explain his feelings.

Lil Nas X is expected soon to release his feature with NBA Youngboy and Saucy Santana ahead of his upcoming album.
