The world of country music is mourning the death of the legendary Naomi Judd, who passed away at the age of 76. Today, many fans are still wondering what her actual cause of death is, and it seems like anonymous sources have the answer.

Multiple insiders spoke to People Magazine to reveal that the country icon took her own life after battling mental illness for a long time.

As of this writing, none from the Judd family or her representatives have confirmed whether the ongoing reports are true.

The latest report comes a few days after sisters Ashley and Wynonna Judd announced their mother's passing in an emotional statement posted on social media.

In the post, the sibling seemingly hinted about their mom's cause of death as they noted that she had a mental illness.

"Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered," they wrote.

The late singer's husband of 32 years, Larry Strickland, also issued a statement, saying their family is asking for privacy and no additional information will be released.

Despite the musician's death, their induction to the Country Music Hall of Fame continues, and her daughters accepted the honor on her behalf.

Naomi was a part of The Judds, consisting of herself and her daughter Wynonna.

According to CNN, Wynonna asked the foundation to carry on with the scheduled event.

The sisters went on to deliver their emotional speeches, but they never forgot to crack jokes from time to time.

"My mama loved you so much and she appreciated your love for her, I'm sorry that she couldn't hang on until today," Ashley noted.

On the other hand, Wynonna opened her speech by telling a punchline, saying she didn't prepare anything because her mom would "probably talk the most."

"I'm gonna make this fast, because my heart's broken, and I feel so blessed. It's a very strange dynamic, to be this broken and this blessed," the singer added.

In an interview with "Good Morning America" in 2016, Naomi revealed that she's been suffering from severe depression and anxiety.

Later that year, she wrote a book titled "River of Time: My Descent into Depression and How I Emerged with Hope," where she gave readers an insight into what she was going through.
