Tommy Lee almost halted Mötley Crüe's comeback tour because of his broken ribs, and his wife recently revealed the story behind the injury.

In the past weeks since the Mötley Crüe's comeback tour started, Lee has been performing in a limited capacity due to his broken ribs. He never disclosed what led him to sustain it, although he said that it was the reason why Tommy Clufetos has been filling in in some of the band's songs.

Recently, his fans learned the story behind it as his wife disclosed the truth in a new interview.

On Snapchat, Lee's wife Brittany Furlan, explained that the drummer suffered a fall while on a vacation in Nashville. She disclosed the reason after receiving questions about how Lee broke his ribs.

Per Furlan, they rented an old house in the state. She noted that the stairs outside the place were made of stones, making the steps uneven.

She divulged that she, herself, also fell from the stairs several times while getting groceries. But she did not face a worse incident as Lee.

"So, the day that we were leaving Nashville, our driver came, and we had all this luggage and he wasn't helping us; he just stayed in the car. And so Tommy was trying to carry all of our luggage for us. And he fell down these crazy stairs and broke - broke - four ribs. Not fractured, not bruised - broke. And it was crazy, 'cause I came out and he couldn't breathe. It was really scary," she said, as transcribed by Blabbermouth.

Tommy Lee Consulted a Specialist

Despite the fall, Lee reportedly boarded a plane to Philadelphia to meet the band members for the rehearsals. But when he decided to have a doctor check his status, he learned that his ribs were broken.

Although the doctors wanted to keep him in the hospital to ensure his recovery, Lee still left to prepare with the band.

With that, Furlan saw him again as a fighter and the "toughest guy" she knows.

On June 16, he joined Mötley Crüe in Atlanta and marked their first performance in seven years. However, after "Saints of Los Angeles," the drummer could no longer play the drums due to the injury.

"I wish I had a f*ckin' bad*ss story, like me and Conor McGregor f*ckin' scrapping out in some f*ckin' bar or something, but I don't," he told the audience, per NME.

Clufetos then replaced him for the remainder of the show.
