A month after releasing the second single from her upcoming album, Rina Sawayama is back after weeks of teasing as she finally revealed the official release date of her new song.

Taking to her social media accounts, the British pop star shared a photo of her third single's official artwork along with its release date.

Titled "Hold The Girl," the same name of her upcoming album, Sawayama's single art features herself sitting in a chair as a woman's hand holds her chin.

The new track will be available for purchase and streaming starting this Wednesday, July 27.

Sawayama also shared a teaser for the song while explaining the meaning behind it on TikTok.

Through a 16-second video, the "Ordinary Superstar" songstress revealed it was the first song she wrote for her new record and she knew immediately that it would be the title track.

Before going to the recording studio the day she wrote it, the singer said she had a "really emotional therapy session" where she was encouraged by her therapist to "hold the inner child."

She immediately wrote the song in her notes app while on her way to the studio.

"The song is about honoring your inner child. It's about giving yourself the support and love that you feel you didn't have as a youth," she further explained.

The recent announcement comes more than a month after releasing the song "Catch Me In The Air."

The track first debuted at one of her "Dynasty Tour" shows early this year.

In a press release, the 31-year-old pop star said she wanted to write a song about a "weird relationship with single parents."

Written around 2020 to 2021, Sawayama explained that she started working on the song at the beginning of the pandemic and the time when a lot of people were having children or thinking of starting a new chapter in their lives by starting a family.

"It made me think of the pressures that parents go through when raising a child. I put myself in my mum's shoes. I'm nearly her age when she had me," she explained.

Sawayama was raised by her single mother which her fans refer to as "Mama Sawayama." They both lived in London, United Kingdom, where they shared a bedroom until she entered her teenage years.

The singer's upcoming album "Hold The Girl" is scheduled to be released on September 2 via Dirty Hit.
