It has been 20 years since Kelly Clarkson won the inaugural season of "American Idol," and recently she detailed a childhood dream that she has not fulfilled since.

Clarkson recently took a hiatus to spend time with her children after a messy divorce with estranged husband Brandon Blackstock.

The "American Idol" alum has departed her coach chair in "The Voice" after eight straight seasons along with Ariana Grande.

Kelly Clarkson Wants To Pursue Her Childhood Dreams

In a Variety cover story detailing her next steps as a daytime show host, Kelly Clarkson opened up about what she wanted to pursue other than music and television.

Clarkson said she wanted to conquer Broadway soon.

"I have different dreams I've had since I was a kid. I don't know how it's all going to pan out. I could do the show for years if we're lucky enough to have the legacy that these other people have. But at the same time, that doesn't mean I can't do Broadway in a summer. That doesn't mean I can't have that gypsy mentality and change it up. " Kelly told the publication.

To date, Clarkson has not been featured in any productions - on Broadway or off-Broadway, despite "putting it out into the universe" since she was a kid.

The 40-year-old singer is halfway to EGOT status, as she has already had GRAMMY Awards and Emmy Awards - she is just short of an Oscar, and a Tony, which she could earn if she decides to pursue her Broadway childhood dreams.

Earlier this year, Kelly won big at the Daytime Emmy Awards. She has won Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for three consecutive years since 2020 when "The Kelly Clarkson Show" started.

Kelly Clarkson OK Sharing Daytime Schedule with 'The Jennifer Hudson Show'?

Jennifer Hudson will be taking over daytime television for "The Jennifer Hudson Show." Kelly, who took the reigns of Daytime after "Ellen" departed, was asked what she felt about sharing the spotlight with her fellow "American Idol" alumna.

"I'm so excited for Jennifer Hudson. Who would have thought two girls from "Idol" would be doing this type of thing? There's room for everyone. I just wanted to say that, because I don't like how people pit us against each other. I want to be sure that everyone knows that we are supportive of each other," Clarkson also told Variety.

"The Jennifer Hudson Show" is set to air on September 12.
