Ed Sheeran is undoubtedly one of the biggest singers in the world today, but not all of his wishes will be granted in an instant as explained by Matty Healy when The 1975 was offered to open for him on tour; what happened?

In an interview with The New Yorker, the frontman revealed that they were offered a four-month tour in 2023 and they will have a chance to play in big stadiums around the world along with "the biggest singer-songwriter."

He noted that the opportunity would've made them an ample amount of money that he has never seen in his entire existence.

However, he turned it down and noted that he tends to "say no to stuff for money." When asked if he was referring to Ed Sheeran, Healy confirmed it and said yes.

"Think about the money you think I'm getting offered - it's not just offered, it's what he can afford because of what he makes for shows - and then just triple it. It's insane," he said (via Uproxx)

Another reason why he rejected the big offer, despite the big cash they would be taking home, was because he "doesn't care" and it's not worth it for him.

He clarified that it's not that he doesn't like Sheeran and commended him for being a genius in "a lot of ways," but he noted that opening up for somebody's show and "not just being real" are some of the things he would think about.

The 1975 Recent Updates

His recent comments come a few days after rumors about a Taylor Swift collaboration with The 1975 made rounds on Twitter.

An alleged leaked tracklist of the pop star's upcoming album "Midnight" was shared countless times by fans and one of the songs included "In My Dreams" which was supposedly a song by Swift and the band.

However, to fans' dismay, Healy took to his Twitter account to debunk the claims, saying he would love to team up with the singer, but the information circulating was "fake news."

Supporters shouldn't be sad as The 1975 will release a new album titled "Being Funny In A Foreign Language."

Their highly-anticipated record will be available for purchase and streaming on October 14 via Dirty Hit.

There are already three singles from the album that has been released over the past few months which include "Part Of The Band," "Happiness," and "I'm In Love With You.
