Rina Sawayama is days away from releasing her sophomore album "Hold The Girl" but many fans are being skeptical about the pop star's choices as they called out the official album art for the upcoming record; what's wrong with the cover?

A fan recently posted a collage of Sawayama's promotion photos, showing the different promotional snaps for her new album.

The photos had texts, seemingly praising each and every image that has been released since the British pop star announced her new era.

"Every Hold The Girl promo image is stunning and gorgeous," the captions read.

However, the fan left out the official album art with the text "Not You." The photo features the "Love Me 4 Me" songstress standing in front of a red background while wearing a bizarre circular outfit.

Many fans immediately replied to the post, seemingly agreeing with the person who posted the previous single covers collage.

"She really did pick the worst one out of all I'm crying... it's so wildly different from the rest and idc if it's artsy, it shoulda been literally any other one," one wrote.

"why would she choose the WORST image as the cover," another one wrote.

One user alleged that the reason why Sawayama and her team picked the photo was because its "camp" and it was a marketing strategy as many fans would use it to create memes, leading to big promotions on social media.

Rina Sawayama's 'Hold The Girl' Album Cover Explained

The official album cover was unveiled in May which features Sawayama wearing a round costume designed by Miguel Benito. Thurstan Redding was the photographer behind the viral cover.

In a previous interview with Numéro, the "Tokyo Love Hotel" songstress explained that the official album art represents "isolation and gestation."

She noted that the photo appears that she's going to give birth to "something" because of the round shape at the bottom of her body."

"It's like something is living inside of me and it has to come out. It's not a metaphor of being pregnant but rather this image refers to the concept of giving birth to a lot of personal things with this album," she added.

Fans are patiently waiting for Sawayama to release her upcoming record which will be available for streaming and purchase starting on September 16.

The album has four singles released so far: "This Hell," "Catch Me In The Air," "Phantom," and the title track "Hold The Girl."

Days before the release, Sawayama will drop a promotional single titled "Hurricane" on Monday as teased on her Twitter account.
