Last August 16, British singer Darius Campbell Danesh was found dead in his Minnesota apartment. His cause of death remains a mystery at the time.

Now, the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's office has finally revealed the findings of the autopsy they have carried out.

Darius Campbell Danesh's cause of death was accidental inhalation and suffocation of chloroethane, NME reports.

"The results of medical examinations have confirmed that Darius's death was an accident caused by chloroethane, which is used to treat pain and that tragically lead to respiratory arrest," Danesh's family said in a statement recently.

Apparently, the discovery of the gas in Danesh's body made sense as his family confirmed that he had been suffering from chronic neck pain since 2010 as he had a car accident at the time.

According to The Scotsman, Chloroethane is commonly known as ethyl chloride which is found in topical anesthetics. Although in the 80s, it became a popular inhalant street drug.

Individuals who inhaled it in small amounts could be dizzy, confused, suffer short-term memory loss, and sometimes, necrosis. A higher dosage could lead to severe depression of the nervous system and liver and kidney damage.

Meanwhile, over-exposure to the drug could be fatal as it could cause frostbite when coming into contact with the person's skin.

Darius Campbell Danesh's family is thankful for the love and kindness that fans and the actor/singer's industry friends have expressed including Simon Cowell.

They have also clarified that the police had confirmed that no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances were found at the scene, with the medical examiner declaring that the cause of Darius Campbell Danesh's death is an accident.

However, what is not clear are two things; Where did he "accidentally" inhale the chloroethane, and if he got it from the topical anesthetic, could the small dosage of what he has been using for his chronic neck pain be enough to be fatal?
