Every artist has their own way on how to get ready for an upcoming recording session. Kelly Clarkson usually does it sober, but when she is about to record a song for her good friend, Kelsea Ballerini, she did it the other way around.

Kelsea Ballerini released her fourth album, "Subject to Change," which was also a divorce album of some sort as she recently explained that she channeled her current experience on the album.

Kelly and Kelsea have been good friends ever since, with an intention of collaborating with other women, she sought the help of the "My Life Would Suck Without You" hitmaker and fellow country artist Carly Pearce for a song.

Kelly Clarkson 'Drunk' When Recording THIS Song?

In an interview on her own show, Kelly Clarkson confessed to everyone the unusual situation she was put in at that time when she was called to record for the song she will be doing with Kelsea Ballerini and Carly Pearce.

"I get to the studio here with Jason, and I get in there and I'm like, 'Look, I didn't know I was gonna be singing today. I didn't know! ... So I had to sing a song called 'You're Drunk, Go Home' inebriated, trying to sing first soprano parts like, 'I'm fine!'" Clarkson recalled.

While the song seemed to be a very fitting title for her current state at the time, Kelly pointed out that she was not the type of person who do work while being under the influence. Apparently, Kelsea asked her to be on the song the same day she recorded. (via Billboard)

However, the schedule coincided with her last day of work before a summer hiatus, and had some drinks before the surprise trip to the recording studio.

Ballerini, who appeared on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," opened up about what led to her decision of having Clarkson and Pearce on the track.

For the "Yeah Boy" singer, she wanted someone who could add a different vocal texture on "You're Drunk, Go Home," immediately thinking of Carly Pearce and Kelly Clarkson.

Kelly Clarkson and Kelsea Ballerini had been good friends since then. The latter even appeared as a substitute guest judge on "The Voice" Season 20 for Clarkson, filling in for her on the Battles round because of the former's absence.

Kelsea Ballerini's "Subject to Change" is now available on streaming platforms.
