Alanis Morissette is not a "mom" to her daughter. For her 6-year-old, especially in private, she's Alanis Morisette through and through.
On Audacy's "Gary Bryan Morning Show," the 48-year-old singer confessed that her 6-year-old daughter, Onyx, wants to call her by her full name, especially when there are not so many people who can hear.
She said her daughter has taken to addressing her by her full name because she has observed that no one uses it when they are in personal settings," the mother said Thursday. Therefore, she will refer to Alanis Morissette instead of her mother.
Morissette did not specify whether her two sons, Ever Imre, 11, and Winter Mercy, 3, have adopted the habit, although she did mention that they are lovers of her music.

Morisette shared that the kids love her songs, even if she would tell them not to listen.
The "Ironic" singer shares three children with hubby Mario "Souleye" Treadway. Since raising a family, the Grammy-winning singer has been vocal about her unorthodox views towards her children's education.

Morissette stated that she employs the "unschooling" method, which allows her to "get inside" her children's heads and teach from their point of view - although she acknowledges that it is not for everyone.
In April 2020, she told Health.com that it's a child-led education method, which would naturally shock many. She however, said it takes a great dose of commitment, so those who cannot see it done should not even attempt it.
The singer, whose lyrics are famed for their vulnerability, has also discussed her struggle with postpartum depression following each of her three births, telling "Today" that it "grew progressively worse" each time.
Although she is "now on the other side of it," the Canadian musician encouraged other ladies who are going through a similar situation to seek counselling or medicines. She said that while the drugs did put her in bad places, she knew she was doing it once upon a time to get through life, and she has no regrets.
Alanis Morissette joined Melissa McCarthy and a lineup of other singers at a gala in San Francisco on Wednesday night to benefit Bring Change to Mind, the organization co-founded by Glenn Close to remove stigma and discrimination against mental illness.
The 10th annual Revels and Revelations fundraiser for Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) was held at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco on Wednesday night. Morissette, Andy Grammer, and Jay Pharoah will provide musical and comedic acts, respectively.
Over the years, Morissette has been open about her struggles with melancholy and anxiety. Through November 6, "Jagged Little Pill," a jukebox musical based on her classic songs, is showing at the Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco.
