As Madonna celebrated the 30th anniversary of her controversial book entitled "S.E.X.," the superstar shared an Instagram Story talking about the struggles she had to face during the early stages of her career.

"I also wrote about my sexual fantasies and shared my point of view about sexuality in an ironic way," she wrote.

"I spent the next few years being interviewed by narrow-minded people who tried to shame me for empowering myself as a woman."

"[...] Now Cardi B can sing about her WAP, Kim Kardashian can grace the cover of any magazine with her naked ass, and Miley Cyrus can come in like a wrecking ball."

"You're welcome b***hes," she added with a clown emoji.

Among the artists and celebrities who was aforementioned was rapper Cardi B, who did not see the shoutout as a compliment.

'Disappointments'?

Cardi B is known to be a Madonna fan. She met the superstar back in 2018 during an Oscars after-party, and she could not stop gushing about their meeting, adding that she considers Madonna her "real life idol."

However, things took a turn when she did not like Madonna's "tone" when she wrote the Instagram Story.

"I literally [paid] this woman homage so many times cause I grew up listening to her ... she can make her point without putting clown emojis and getting slick out the mouth," the "WAP" the rapper tweeted on Oct 23.

While some fans noted that Madonna was just pointing out that she "paved the way" for female artists like the rapper to fully and freely express themselves, Cardi B responded, "I know exactly what she said and I understand. But it's about the tone. Calling me bitches and putting a clown emoji? The f**k!"

"These icons really become disappointments once u make it in the industry that's why I keep to myself," she added.

Fortunately, the two have already made up. According to reports, Cardi B took to Twitter to announce the great news.

"I talked to Madonna," she wrote. "It was beautiful. Have a great day and drive safely, y'all."

The Queen of Pop also took to Twitter to address the short-lived beef between the two, "I love you, [Cardi B]! Always have and always will."

And to show that they really talked things through, Cardi took down her tweets about Madonna, reports say.

Controversy

Both Cardi B and Madonna are surrounded by controversy, however, as the "Like A Virgin" singer noted, she has been a particular favorite when it comes to the public's critical eye.

"S.E.X." was published in 1992 and reportedly sold over 150,000 copies on the day of its release. It not only included the book, but also an accompanying CD.

Madonna noted that the book featured pictures of herself in the nude, as well as a collection of pictures of "men kissing men, woman kissing woman, and me kissing everyone" as she had put it in her Instagram Story.
