AJ McLean, a member of the Backstreet Boys, has embarked on a fitness quest and lost an astounding 27 pounds in eight months. While a weight drop like that in a span of few months can spark worries, it seems to be the healthier path for the singer.

Approximately two years ago, when he began competing on "Dancing With The Stars," he said he began to prioritize his health more. He was hosting a television program in South Africa in February and have lost 27 pounds since then, the 44-year-old confessed in a recent interview.

Then the holidays arrived, and obviously everyone goes a little harder during the holidays and doesn't exactly adhere to their diet, he admitted. Eventually, he was able to resume his fitness regimen, and he is now committed to maintain it.

He shared that once he establishes a habit and begin to see results and feel better, he started to sleep better, and his mental state is enhanced. His concentration also improves.

.With a mix of liposuction and radiofrequency waves, AJ underwent a cosmetic treatment to tighten the sagging skin caused by his weight loss. Recently, he has been on tour with the Backstreet Boys, and the strenuous physical exertions he endures onstage have helped him maintain his physique.

Over the past two decades, AJ's relationship with alcohol has been a rollercoaster; he has been to rehab many times, but he is now sober for over a year. Last month, while appearing on the Today show, he reflected that drinking caused weight gain and weighed him down mentally.
