John Legend is amassing massive success over the past years as he finally achieved the EGOT status and a few months ago, he achieved one of the biggest milestones of his career, getting his own residency in Las Vegas.

According to Billboard, the "All of Me" hitmaker launched his "Love in Las Vegas" residency at the Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood in April and he still has a few shows in the coming days.

To bring his concept to life, he teamed up with a longtime collaborator, Rob English, to be the creative director for his shows.

The two first met a few years back when the singer joined Troy Carter's management company called Atom Factory. Since then, they have been working together on several projects.

The reason why Legend chose English for creative direction is because of his intuition as he knows the singer very well and was able to "translate his understanding of me and what I represent" to his fans visually.

Legend and the creative director collaborated together and the latter believes that the residency shows how versatile and refined of a performer Legend is.

Throughout the years, the understanding of what residencies are has changed as described by English because many people believe in the past that it was a "death sentence" to an artist's career, indicating that their fame is slowly fading. But now, it's a sign of "icon status."

What Was John Legend, Rob English's Inspiration for the Residency?

In an interview with the outlet ahead of their final show on October 29, the two revealed their major inspiration for the shows.

The "Lay Me Down" hitmaker said he went to Las Vegas to see his friends who perform there like Gwen Stefani, Bruno Mars and Anderson, Paak of Silk Sonic, Usher, and more.

Out of all the shows they watched, they were captured by Blake Shelton's wife's essence as she reminisced through different looks and eras that she embodied throughout her career.

"Part of what's cool about a Vegas residency is that it's a chance to look back and celebrate all the stories in your life that brought you where you are," he added.

According to Vegas.com, John Legend has three shows left for his residency. His next shows would be on October 26, 28, and 29 at Planet Hollywood's Zappos Theater.
