Taylor Swift has revealed the perfect breakup song - and it's not one of hers.

The Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter rode into everyone's lives on the strength of breakup songs, but the 32-year-old Pennsylvania-born musician believes there's another one that tops the bill.

The "Lavender Haze" hitmaker has publicly said that Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" is the "greatest song ever written," per Billboard.

Taylor Swift made the announcement earlier this month at a ceremony honoring the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, which included the 79-year-old New York native.

The "Never Ever Getting Back Together" singer said in a video message on a virtual appearance that the 1971 classic is "the finest song that's ever written" and "the best way anyone has talked about a breakup, it's amazing."

But Taylor Swift's affection for Carly Simon and the ultimate breakup song is no secret, since the latter sang the song as a duet with her on her "Red" tour in 2013.

Meanwhile, it wasn't only the "folklore" hitmaker who paid tribute to Carly at the Hall of Fame event.

At the ceremony, Olivia Rodrigo also sang "You're So Vain."

Carly, like Taylor Swift and Olivia, wasn't afraid to write melancholy songs about her famous ex-boyfriends in the past.

Carly officially disclosed the name of one of her renowned song's inspirationsin 2015, after years of keeping it hidden. The song is about actor Warren Beatty, whom she dated in the 1970s.

In an interview, Carly stated that just the second verse is for him, whereas Warren believes the entire thing is about him.

Taylor Swift 'Midnights' Album and Grammys Update

Taylor Swift's "Midnights" is at the top of the Billboard 200 list for the fourth week in a row. According to Luminate (via Billboard), it topped the list with 177,000 equivalent units earned in the United States in the week ending November 24.

However, the album was a huge success, and she became the first artist in history to hold all ten Billboard Hot 100 positions at the same time.

To the surprise of fans, her album or tracks from "Midnights" were not included in the Grammy nominations revealed last week.

Because, as it turns out, the deadline to be considered for the nominationthis year was October 1, and Taylor Swift's album was released a few weeks later.

Despite this, she garnered four nominations, including Song of the Year for "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (The Short Film)."
