Kanye West used to be a decorated rapper, considered one of the bests in the rap game, but his recent harmful hate speech has taken a turn for the worse, which has only caused the industry to ostracize him.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago has announced that it took back the honorary doctorate it awarded West in 2015.

"The School of the Art Institute of Chicago condemns and repudiates Kanye West's (now known as Ye) anti-Black, antisemitic, racist, and dangerous statements, particularly those directed at Black and Jewish communities," the official statement released read.

In 2015, SAIC awarded him for being "an advocate for education, and a thinker and maker who often uses his work...to deconstruct stereotypes and spur cultural discourse on important social issues."

However, these can no longer be found in West's actions, behavior, and speech these days. "Ye's actions do not align with SAIC's mission and values, and we've rescinded his honorary degree."

According to reports, the SAIC's decision to revoke the rapper's honorary doctorate comes after a petition formed by the students, which now has over 4,000 signatures.

SAIC president Elissa Tenny explained that it "was a difficult decision to make," but added that it "has been deliberated thoroughly."

Apparently, West is the very first person whose degree has been revoked in the school's 80-year history, Page Six noted.

"Though we firmly believe in the right to express a diversity of opinions and beliefs, the severity of his behavior made it clear that rescinding this honor was appropriate," the statement concluded.

Recent news of West has shown his erratic and concerning behavior, which he has expressed through harmful hate speech.

While he has been spewing antisemitic remarks in the last month, it came to a tipping point when he finally admitted on camera that he "loves" Nazis and "likes" Hitler.

Since the start of his antisemitic rampage, several individuals and companies have decided to no longer associate themselves with the disgraced rapper.

Aside from the antisemitism, he has also said anti-Black remarks, claiming that George Floyd died of fentanyl, and not because an officer knelt on his neck.

He was also seen sporting a shirt that reads "white lives matter" during Paris Fashion Week, which has caused quite an uproar.

As of this writing, West is yet to address the rescinded honorary doctorate.
