Just before she tragically her away, Whitney Houston apparently had plans to act in order to rescue herself.

Clive Davis, who signed the "I Will Always Love You" singer to a record deal for the first time when she was just 20 years old and collaborated with her for the entirety of her career, claimed that he was startled when she passed away in 2012.

Clive said in a statement to Page Six that he was with Whitney 48 hours before to her unexpected passing. He allegedly had no idea that it would be his final encounter with the renowned vocalist.

However, the recording mogul disclosed that Whitney had battled drug addiction all of her life and tried to make progress toward sobriety.

"She was showing me what she had done in rehab," the 90-year-old told the publication.

"How she had quit smoking and removed the nicotine from her throat. She also wanted to begin visiting the studio."

"I would never have anticipated she would pass away 48 hours before she died, that there would be that awful, early end to her life," he added.

During that period, Whitney Houston allegedly made a valiant effort to kick all of her bad habits and work on her self-rehabilitation.

Whitney Houston was discovered unconscious and immersed in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton apartment on February 11, 2012.

She was unconscious while the paramedics attempted CPR on her.

The "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" singer was 48 years old when she died.

Whitney Houston's cause of death was declared by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office to be accidental. Her drowning was caused by the "consequences of cocaine usage and atherosclerotic heart disease."

More medicines, including Benadryl, Xanax, and cannabis, were discovered in her system, according to the toxicology report.

Whitney sang her well-known song "The Greatest Love of All" for Clive Davis at her audition for him, which he still recalls.
