Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler shocked fans with a recent update regarding his health.

Ahead of Christmas day, Butler's wife, Gloria delivered the bad news about the musician's status. In a post on Instagram, she quipped that the rocker was a pain but also disclosed that he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Gloria revealed that Butler got tested negative for tonsilitis, COVID-19, flu, and strep during his first day in the hospital. But on the second day, they were told that he has pneumonia. Previously, he contracted COVID-19 twice.

Fans and colleagues immediately flooded the comments section with well wishes for the bassist, sending him love and healing vibes.

Merck Mercuriadis wrote, "Godspeed Terry @geezerbutler thank you for putting up with @gloriadeebutler ! Merry Christmas to you all !"

"Wishing you both all the best for a Merry Christmas and a speedy recovery to the number 1 Bass player in history! God bless," a fan wrote.

Butler's COVID-19 diagnosis led him to miss Black Sabbath members Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Lommi's performance at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, earlier this year.

"I don't think he wanted to come over as he hadn't been well with Covid," Lommi told Birmingham Live. "He'd been on holiday to Kenya and to Italy and had had an accident on a boat, cracking or breaking a rib about three weeks ago, so he was not quite in fine fettle to come over to play."

He became the latest Black Sabbath member to suffer a health issue.

Black Sabbath Members Struggle with Illnesses

Aside from Butler, two members of Black Sabbath have also been struggling with health problems in the past years.

In 2012, Lommi was diagnosed with lymphoma. A few years later, he revealed that his cancer was in remission but he still underwent a procedure to remove a non-cancerous lump in his throat.

He revealed that his doctors predicted his lymphoma would return. He also broke a tendon in his arm that affected his capacity to pick heavyweight things.

On the other hand, Osbourne made headlines when he underwent surgery to realign the pins in his neck and back after a 2019 fall. The rocker revealed that it has been preventing him from touring, saying he could not return to the stage as he focuses on his treatment.

Currently, Osbourne still faces issues with balance and stability. But he assured everyone he has been working out with new apparatuses that could help him recover.
