Dove Cameron is one of the performers on the LA party segment of ABC's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, which will air on December 31 at 8 p.m. ET; she describes it as "unimaginable" that she would be allowed to play on such an "iconic" show.

"It blows my mind," Dove told ABC Audio during rehearsals for the show. "It's, like, when you grow up watching something so iconic, I think it's one of the mainstays of, 'One day when I'm...an adult...I'm gonna do that!' But it's not really anything you wholeheartedly believe is going to be a part of your life in any real way...so...it's kind of inconceivable!"

Dove did grow up watching New Year's Rockin' Eve, but not in her own home. This may sound sad for many -- but not for the musician with this very positive mindset.

"I grew up without cable in the woods, so...I would watch New Year's Rockin' Eve at friends' houses and, like, my aunts' and uncles' [houses]," she said. "But it wasn't something that we had in our home because we literally had rabbit ears and, like, one local news channel."

Dove's performance on the night will be the final highlight of a year filled with them: she was named Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards and the American Music Awards, and "Boyfriend" was a huge smash hit. However, she has numerous New Year's resolutions for 2023.

"I mean, number one on my mind is finally getting my debut album out there 'cause it's been a long saga," she explained. "I'm very excited about that. And also, personally speaking, just finding time for consistent therapy once a week...[it's a] huge, huge thing for me because I think in my line of work, it's really difficult to do."

American actress and singer Dove Cameron has been in the public glare for some time. You'll soon see her as Bubbles in the live-action Powerpuff series, but she's been on screen and in our ears for decades.

She is best recognized for her performances as Liv and Maddie in the Disney Channel comedy, "Liv and Maddie". During her tenure on "Liv and Maddie", she made her singing debut on the soundtrack CD for the program.

Dove was born at Bainbridge Island, Washington on January 15, 1996 to parents Philip Alan Hosterman and Bonnie Wallace. She has a sister named Claire Hosterman who is older.

Dove moved with her family to Los Angeles, California, when she was a teenager, where she still resides.

Dove's true given name was Chloe. Dove's big performances as the lead characters in the four-season Disney Channel teen series "Liv and Maddie" occurred in 2013.

Dove also played Mal in Disney's "Descendants", "Descendants: Wicked World", "Descendants 2", and "Descendants 3" television film series.

Dove was given the name Chloe Celeste Hosterman at birth. Her father committed suicide when she was 15 years old, and she changed her name to "Dove" as a memorial to a nickname he used to call her.

Dove's appearance as herself as a judge on Project Runway and RuPaul's Drag Race is another evidence of the name she's created for herself. She has also participated in "Celebrity Family Feud."

Dove's film roles include Bekah Cotter in "Dumplin'", Olive in "Good Mourning", Kansas City Shaw in "Vengeance", and Ella in "The Angry Birds Movie 2" (voice).

Dove Cameron is one of several young, prominent celebrities who are out gay. Initially out as bisexual, she has subsequently confirmed her sexual orientation as queer. Her candor about her sexuality has made her a role model for a large number of people.
