Takeoff's death has shocked his fans and the music community in general.

The tragic loss of life at such a young age was a piece of huge news too hard to grasp by his family and his millions of fans worldwide.

Shortly after his death, tributes poured out, remembering his life, his music, talent, and his impact on younger generations of rappers and hip-hop artists in the United States.

With 2022 already capping off, various In Memoriam segments have been broadcasted on television remembering the artists, musicians, and other key personalities who passed away this past year.

Takeoff was on the roster of ABC's Year-End 2022 special In Memoriam segment. But when people thought they would be seeing a lovely photo of the slain rapper, they were taken aback by the sight of a different rapper.

People were aghast when they were supposed to see Takeoff, they saw Quavo's photo instead - immediately thinking, was Quavo dead?

Netizens were baffled and bothered by the very glaring mistake that a respectable news outlet like ABC has missed.

So I'm watching #TheYear on @abc and was caught off guard by the disrespect and ignorance of the programming. All black people don't look the same and y'all got this one wrong, the person in the picture is clearly, clearly @Quavonyrn do better @abc," a fan angrily posted on Twitter.

"Woooow @ABC just put Quavo up as TakeOff in their In Memoriam section of their year in review," another user shared.

"ABC did a tribute for Takeoff and really put Quavo's picture wtfff. I seen it live while my gramma was watching & was like i'm preeetty sure that is Quavo and sure enough was smfh. how hard is it to double check your shit? @ABC how disrespectful," someone pointed out on Twitter.

The outrage against ABC ran wild on social media, full of callouts and angry messages towards the news agency for the apparent disrespect to the still-living rapper Quavo and his dead nephew Takeoff.

Hours after, ABC responded to the shocking ruckus.

Takeoff is one of the many rappers in the country who were shot this year. After a heated argument between Quavo's gang and another gang in a Houston Bowling alley erupted into a bloody shootout, Takeoff was gunned down - pronounced dead on arrival last Nov. 1, 2022.
