The Golden Globes 2023 was one of the most talked-about celebrations on social media right now.

From the actors that scored their first win, and to TV legend Ryan Murphy earning the Golden Globe Carol Burnett Lifetime Achievement Award, the 2023 Golden Globes was arguably the best awards ceremony show so far, according to some netizens.

However, one of the most significant wins on the show was given to Indian composer-songwriter M.M. Keeravani, who thanked his lyricists, arranger, family, and director-writer S.S. Rajamouli, for the beauty that is "Naatu Naatu" from the film "RRR."

"Naatu Naatu" won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song - Motion Picture, triumphing over many anticipated winners like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Selena Gomez. It marks the first Golden Globe awarded to India since the show's inception in 1944.

Entering the highly-competitive race as an underdog, "Naatu Naatu" was not something that many had anticipated would take home the award.

"RRR," the film where the song came from, was nominated for two categories - Best Original Song: Motion Picture and Best Non-English Language Film. The film lost the latter to "Argentina, 1985."

Meanwhile, people expecting that either the four main pop girls would probably take the Golden Globe for Best Original Song were stunned to see the award being given to the underdog.

Lady Gaga is nominated for "Hold My Hand," Taylor Swift for "Carolina," Selena Gomez for "My Mind & Me," and Rihanna for "Lift Me Up."

The same list, along with "Naatu Naatu" was also shortlisted for the upcoming 95th Academy Awards on Mar. 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

In a series of tweets from Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum (the person behind the production of "Get Out" and Paranormal Activity), he predicts that the film "RRR" would sweep the Oscars, including Best Picture.

Following the newfound attention that "Naatu Naatu" gained after winning the Golden Globe, it is highly likely that the song would be nominated for Oscars 2023 and has a high chance of winning among the most popular songs in the bunch.

Diane Warren is also shortlisted for the Oscars category, and so was The Weeknd, Drake, Jazmine Sullivan, Pasek & Paul, Rita Wilson, and even director Guillermo del Toro, among others.

The official nominations for the 95th Academy Awards will be announced on Jan. 24, 2023.
