Duran Duran's founding guitarist Andy Taylor opened up about his current cancer battle and compared it to a "death sentence."

The 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame learned about Taylor's health battle during Duran Duran's induction at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. At that time, the members read the guitarist's acceptance speech saying he was diagnosed with prostate cancer four years ago.

A few months after the ceremony, Taylor opened up to UK TV 5 News in a new interview and detailed his current battle with cancer.

According to the musician, he felt something was off when he suddenly experienced an "arthritic sort of pain" while he was jogging. From there, he began noticing the symptoms but did not know what they were. It included lumps on his neck, which was a sign his cancer had metastasized.

After confirming the diagnosis, he called it a "death sentence" because no one could reportedly be ever prepared for that.

"Every minute is like an hour, every day is like a week," he said. "You really want to get the most out of life. And I've been very fortunate. I've had so much in terms of living the dream."

Taylor took his time to urge his male fans to get checked and ask female supporters to pressure the men in their lives to undergo tests.

Prostate cancer, according to the American Cancer Society, starts when the cells in the prostate gland grow out of control. The types of this cancer include adenocarcinomas, small cell carcinomas, sarcomas, transitional cell carcinomas, and neuroendocrine tumors.

Andy Taylor's Career With Duran Duran
