Many fans didn't know that Dolly Parton was connected to the Presley family for decades. More recently, she reacted to Lisa Marie Presley's death, saying she was heartbroken for her good pal, Priscilla.

The country musician recently appeared via satellite on "The View" where Joy Behar asked her about her emotional tribute to the Presley family that she posted on Instagram last week.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee explained that she thought of the sorrow and grief that a mother would have if they lost their child.

She added that she's been friends with Priscilla for a long time and she felt "heartbroken" for her, adding, "being so shocked and horrified by the early death of some special, wonderful girl... So it just feels like a family. I was just talking about how we all love that family as if it's our own. It's a tragic thing." (via New York Post)

Furthermore, Dolly noted that she also knew the family's patriarch, Elvis, saying he would be "so happy" to reunite with his daughter again.

In addition, the musician revealed that Elvis was supposed to record and release the song, but his business manager asked for half of the publishing rights, which the country star disagreed to.

Unfortunately, the project did not push through and the situation broke Dolly's heart because she really wanted to hear the rock and roll icon sing her song.

The track later went to Whitney Houston and became one of the most successful songs of all time.

Lisa Marie Presley's Death

In recent reports, Lisa Marie Presley's actual cause of death hasn't been figured out yet despite undergoing an initial autopsy examination.

According to CNN Entertainment, The Los Angeles County Coroner deferred her cause of death, meaning the medical examiner would have to do more investigation and look more into her death. Once they're done, the doctor would evaluate the results to finally know the manner of her passing.

The 54-year-old famed musician passed away last week after being hospitalized due to an apparent cardiac arrest.

A memorial will take place at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee on January 22.
