Aaliyah is one of the biggest artists in the music industry whose impact and influence are still felt now because of the many artists she inspired back then because of her music.

Hailed as the "Queen of Urban Pop" and the "Princess of R&B," Aaliyah recorded songs and albums that have become a blueprint for the new generation of singers like SZA, Summer Walker, Normani, Ari Lennox, Jhene Aiko, Rihanna, and even Beyonce, among many others.

Sadly, Aaliyah tragically passed away in 2001, when she was just 22 years old, in an airplane accident in the Bahamas.

But since then, her legacy and impact have lived on up until today.

Since May 2022, a petition for Aaliyah to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been making waves.

According to NME, a change.org petition has been created by a fan named Albert Tsibu and has earned over 7,000 signatures already.

The petition also argued that many of the singer's posthumous tributes and accolades throughout the years have come to fruition because of her dedicated fans' diligence, patience, and hard work.

"Aaliyah being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame would not only be fitting for a musical legend but well-deserved for someone who is still influencing a new generation of artists and musicians with her innovative body of work that stands the test of time to this very day," the petition wrote.

According to the publication, The Rock Hall regulations say that artists can be inducted if they released their first project 25 years before the year they will be nominated. Since she released her debut album "Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number" in 1994, it means that Aaliyah has been eligible since 2019.

Fans of the R&B superstar have rallied behind Tsibu on the petition.

"Babygirl is my biggest inspiration and favorite artist. She has made the biggest impact on this world and does not get anywhere near the amount of credit that she deserves," a fan shared.

"I'm Signing this petition because Aaliyah is truly an legend and she doesn't get the right recognization she deserves she was truly a hard working person and she put her all into everything she did from it either being from her music or being an actress.Aaliyah and her legacy has inspired so many people all around the world such as myself," another said.
