Kelsea Ballerini shocked fans when she announced that she filed a divorce from Morgan Evans in August last year, and six months later, she's finally opening up about it.

There's so much to unpack in Ballerini's newly released album "Rolling Up The Welcome Mat," but arguably the most telling of all is the accompanying short film that shows the singer coping with her divorce.

The 29-year-old singer is seen sitting at a breakfast table, singing, "I'm wearing the ring still/ But I think I'm lying/ Sometimes you forget yours/ I think we're done trying."

The short film is 20 minutes long and includes the songs "Mountain with a View" and "Penthouse."

While "Mountain with a View" might already be considered heartwrenching, Ballerini's "Penthouse" is another heartbreak altogether.

The song alludes to Ballerini and Evans' decision to move houses in 2020, which eventually leads to their break up two years later.

"I guess wrong can look alright when you're playing home in a penthouse baby/ "We played the part five nights, but we were never there on the weekends, baby."

"It hurts putting s**t in a box, and now we don't talk," she sings, "And it stings rolling up the welcome mat, knowing you got half."

In a statement, Ballerini explained how "Rolling Up The Welcome Mat" is significant to her personally.

"These are six songs I wish I had last year. It's about the complexities of the feelings you go through during a massive shift at a young age,

It's the way I got my feelings out of my body and heart and put them to music - which is the purest way I could've handled it."

The country singer and Evans first met back in 2016, reports say. They dated for a year before they finally tied the knot in December 2017.

However, now that they're done and really over, the singer has since moved on to a new love, actor Chase Stokes.

Ballerini and Stokes have been seen going out and about. The actor has shared a picture of them together on his Instagram, and a clip of them cuddling has also been making its rounds on the Internet.

The new couple has tried desperately to keep their relationship lowkey, but it's pretty obvious that they're deeply in love and having a great time together.
