Reba McEntire will appear on "The Voice" season 23 with a brand-new role.

"The Voice" scheduled the beginning of its season 23 on March 6. Coaches Chance the Rapper, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, and Blake Shelton are all set to return to the judging panel.

Joining him on the show is the returnee, McEntire.

On Wednesday, "The Voice" confirmed McEntire's appearance as a mega mentor. The 67-year-old's new role will allow her to give advice to the artists who make it to the battle rounds ahead of the knockouts.

McEntire previously became a battle advisor for Shelton's team.

Aside from McEntire's appearance, "The Voice" fans will see some changes in the upcoming season.

Starting March 27, "The Voice" will have a playoff pass during the battles. The segment will see the winner in a battle automatically getting advanced to playoffs when they skip the knockout rounds.

Coaches will gain a playoff pass and steal during the new round.

On May 1 onward, the remaining artists from the playoff rounds will face off while the coaches pick two of them to advance to the live semifinals.

Reba McEntire Previously Turned Down "The Voice" Invitation

Before the confirmation of McEntire's appearance, the singer discussed with ET's Cassie DiLaura her plans for whether she would secure a seat in the singing competition show.

The music icon noted that she turned down an offer to become a judge before "The Voice" started in 2011.

I got [a look at] the Holland version of The Voice. They sent it to me and I said, 'I can't see me doing that,'" she said. "Because, you know, I'm a gypsy at heart."

McEntire added that she does not feel she could commit to just one project for too long.

As for Shelton's chair, she noted that filing in his shoes would be tough as the singer - who plans to leave his seat soon - did a great job.

Shelton revealed he would leave the show after Season 23 in a statement. "The Voice" has not announced who will replace him in the series. Although he would leave the show, he clarified to People that he would never walk away from music as it is not something he "could go without."

With that, Shelton declared he would never leave his passion until his death.
