On Sunday, Lady Gaga gave a breathtaking performance at the 2023 Oscars ceremony after being nominated for her song "Hold My Hand," an official soundtrack for "Top Gun: Maverick."

The "Poker Face" star's performance not only brought the audience to tears, but it also caused spectators to cry while watching their screens.

The award-winning singer-songwriter wore an all-black gown and makeup to the 95th Academy Awards. When she performed, she wore a basic black blouse and tattered jeans. She even took off her makeup and sung through every emotion in the song.

Before singing the song, Lady Gaga told the mic, "It's deep and personal for me. And we all need heroes sometime ... You get to be your own hero."

Despite the fact that her stripped-down version of the song wowed the audience, viewers couldn't help but notice her chapped lips when the camera went up close and personal during her performance.

Lady Gaga quickly became a popular topic online, not for her singing, but for her lips.

"Lady Gaga, I love you but...," one user wrote. "You've got enough money for Vaseline."

"Hey women... we know how much labor goes into peeling off a RED lip!!!" said another. "Give her some leeway."

"Lady Gaga did that for dry-lipped divas," a third individual added.

Meanwhile, fans still couldn't stop gushing about her powerful performance and busting stereotypes.

"In possibly the most glamorous room in the world, she reminded us that sincerity, heart, and soul is what it's all about," one Twitter user said.

"Loved how she performed like an ordinary person, no expensive clothing or cosmetics," remarked another.
