Austin Butler is trending on social media again for amusing reasons.

The "Elvis" star utilized his trademark Elvis Presley drawl during red-carpet interviews at the 2023 Oscars, inciting a slew of internet haters.

"Austin Butler still has that accent, and I'm going to push him into a locker," one Twitter user stated.

Some were more outspoken in their disdain for the actor's voice.

"Austin Butler, DROP THAT F*ING ACCENT," encouraged another Twitter user.

"Austin, if you don't remove this terrible accent by tonight, I will commit a crime, I'm sick of it," a third social media user said.

Austin Butler has previously been ridiculed for speaking with a strong Southern drawl when accepting an award at the Golden Globes, despite being born and bred in Southern California.

A reader wrote at the time, "So that faux Elvis accent is basically Austin Butler's voice now, huh?"

Perhaps the former Disney Channel star took the criticism to heart, as he stated last month that he wished to quit sounding like Elvis now that the movie press tour was finished.

Speaking on "The Graham Norton Show," Austin confessed, "I am getting rid of the accent, but I have probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing."

Austin Butler was nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of the late King of Rock'n'Roll in Baz Luhrmann's biopic. He competed against Bill Nighy, Colin Farrel, Paul Mescal, and Brendan Fraser for the prize, which he finally won.

Supporters of the film and the actor afterwards argued he was cheated out of the Best Actor prize because he "practically *became* Elvis."

"The fact Butler didn't win is wrong now and will age even worse," one person remarked, while another said, "Austin Butler surrendered his entire identity to a role and the academy was still like Nay."

Apart from the buzz of being the first man born in the 1990s if he won Best Actor, his girlfriend Kaia Gerber was conspicuously absent from his big night.

When a reporter questioned, "Where's Kaia?" the Hollywood heartthrob dodged answering the question by saying he had brought his closest buddy and agent James Farrell instead.

The 21-year-old supermodel was unable to attend since she was scheduled to appear at the 2023 SXSW to promote her film "Bottoms."
