The magic comes to theaters a month early! The musical movie adaptation of "Wicked" will be released a month earlier than expected!

"Wicked" is one of the most highly-anticipated movie musicals right now. It has been teased since the early 2000s and was just confirmed for production a year ago.

'Wicked: Part One' Release Date

According to Variety, "Wicked: Part One," initially set for release in December 2024, will be bumped to November 2024 in time for the Thanksgiving Weekend release next year.

The film was announced to be split into two, with at least two new songs being adapted into the movie. "Wicked: Part Two," set for theatrical release in December 2025, seemed to be still set on that particular date.

The publication also reported that there is only one untitled Disney Animation project currently on the schedule for Thanksgiving 2024.

On the other hand, "Wicked" leaves its previous schedule of Christmas 2024, which slated "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," and the sequel to the Oscar-winning movie and third-highest-grossing movie in history, "Avatar 3."

In a Tweet, Jon M. Chu, the director of the two films, shared the announcement.

"WICKED NEWS: We are deep into production on WICKED and everyday we get more and more excited to share with u the mischief we've been up to. So... We've decided to get it to you all a little earlier than planned. OUR NEW RELEASE Date is NOV 27th 2024! A little Thanksgiving treat!" he revealed.

Jon M. Chu previously directed "In The Heights" and "Crazy Rich Asians," among many other blockbuster films.
