Katy Perry's mom-shaming joke led an "American Idol" mother to quit the show soon after the audition.

A mom-shaming incident happened during the "American Idol" audition, which led viewers to call out Perry. After the event, the "Roar" hitmaker made a contestant quit because of her "below-the-belt" comment.

"American Idol" Contestant Sara Beth Quits Show

On Sunday's episode of "American Idol," contestant Sara Beth - who passed the initial audition in March - performed Police's "Roxanne" for the second round of the show. Aside from making the judges drop their jaws with her performance, she also shocked them by saying she was quitting the show after feeling embarrassed over Perry's joke during her audition.

"This opportunity is really rad, but this is actually going to be my last performance, because my heart's at home," she said. "So, I'm going to get home to my babies. They kind of need me."

Perry pleaded with her to stay, but the contestant made up her mind. She told the judges and viewers that she did not know what show business is.

When she realized how hard it would be to be away from her kids, Sara Beth reportedly decided to leave her dreams behind instead of doing something selfish toward her kids.

She also noted that she felt she has no chance to win anyway, so she just wanted to go home.

The judges tried to convince her that they planned to let her into Hollywood Week's second round because of her impressive "Roxanne" performance. However, she just expressed her gratitude to the judges and said she might soon regret it.

During her first audition, Sara Beth said she had only been taking music seriously for six months and only had karaoke nights with her friends. Lionel Richie also gave her a "no" when she auditioned in New Orleans.

What Katy Perry Told Sara Beth

Perry continues to suffer backlash weeks after she first "mom-shamed" the contestant.

For what it's worth, the judges told her she looked like a teenager when Sara Beth revealed she was already 25 and has three kids.

The contestant quipped, saying she would pass out if Perry lays on the table.

Perry replied, "Honey, you've been laying on the table too much." The "Dark Horse" hitmaker also asked Liebe if singing was her dream since the mother of three revealed she has no time for herself anymore.

The judge also warned her that she might need to leave if singing was not truly her dream. By doing so, she would let other dreams pursue it instead.

Perry also commented on her "You Know I'm No Good" performance and said she should have tried "Benny and the Jets." After hearing her, the female judge called her "accidental American Idol" who should not reportedly go far if music is not her dream.
