Amanda Leigh "Mandy" Moore was born on April 10, 1984 in Nashua, New Hampshire to Stacy, a former journalist and Don Moore, an airline pilot. When Mandy was a child, her family moved to Orlando, where she grew up. After Mandy saw the musical, "Oklahoma!", she decided to pursue a career in singing.
How Mandy Moore Started Her Career in Music and Acting
At 14, while Mandy was recording a song at a studio in Orlando, a Fed Ex worker who heard her singing became interested in her talent. The worker coincidentally knew someone from Sony. Mandy prepared a demo right away, and thereafter signed a record deal with Sony 550 Music, as per ImdB. At 15 years old, Mandy released her first record, "So Real."
