The bodies of Lotus drummer Chuck Morris and his son have been found nearly a month since they went missing during a kayaking trip.

Kansas City local news outlets reported in March that Morris and his 20-year-old son, Charley, went on a vacation in Arkansas and decided to kayak together. Hours after they started their trip, a local alert system informed the authorities that two kayakers were lost.

They had since started a search effort which was then shifted to a recovery operation to find the father and son. Twenty-four days later, they found their bodies.

Lotus Drummer Chuck Morris, Son Charley Found Dead After Going Missing for 24 Days

The Benton County Sheriff's Office shared a Facebook post confirming that it recovered Morris and his son's bodies using resources from across the country. The authorities also reportedly used an underwater drone "in a challenging environment that exceeded depths of 180."

"After 24 days of recovery efforts, the bodies of both Charles Morris IV (Chuck-Father) and Charles Morris V (Charley-son) have been recovered thanks to the technology and efforts by all personnel," part of the post reads. "Our heart goes out to the family of Chuck and Charley Morris and we are thankful today that we can help bring closure."

The sheriff's office worked with other agencies and groups in pursuit of recovering the bodies. The search started in the South Lost Bridge Village of Beaver Lake in March.

Morris' band, Lotus, revealed on March 21 that the initial search operation for the father and son had been shifted to a recovery effort despite their hopes for a miracle. Finding the bodies at that time challenged the rescuers due to the existing logistical challenges that affected the operation, including temperature and weather.

The late drummer's bereaved family also issued an official statement saying that they were already informed about the discovery. They added that the sheriff's office first found Charley's body and cited that their cause of death was drowning.

Lotus To Dedicate Benefit Concert For Chuck Morris' Family

Lotus has a long lineup of shows until September, but the band is yet to confirm whether it will postpone some of the shows in the wake of its drummer's death.

On the other hand, the bandmates already announced the two-day benefit concerts for the Morris family on April 21 and 22 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colorado. Third and fourth benefit shows will happen on May 5 and 6 at XL Live in Harrisburg and Capitol Theater in Port Chester, respectively.
