Aside from being a talented musician, the 1975's Matty Healy is also known online for his problematic and controversial comments on various topics. More recently, the frontman announced that he would be staying out of the internet for a while in order for him to work on himself.

According to the Evening Standard UK, the band recently performed in Adelaide in Australia for their "The 1975 At Their Very Best" tour.

At one moment, the musician shocked fans when he announced that he would be quitting social media, saying, "Everything happens in eras. The 1975 is a very eras band. The era of me being a f****** a****** *is coming to an end. I've had enough."

The vocalist added that he performs all the time because it's his job and he loves doing it. However, he can't perform off the stage anymore as he just wanted to be a "bloke."

As of this writing, Healy did not reveal when he'll come back to social media. His Instagram account under the username @trumanblack is currently deactivated.

Matty Healy Quits Social Media: Not the First Time He Did It

This isn't the first time Matty Healy quit social media as he deactivated his Twitter account in 2020 after receiving negative comments and backlash regarding his post about George Floyd.

At the time, a massive uproar from people and artists worldwide happened as they wanted to seek justice for the 46-year-old African-American man who passed away in the custody of a local police in Minnesota. (via NME)

The 1975 frontman responded to the issue by sharing a post, writing, "If you truly believe that 'ALL LIVES MATTER' you need to stop facilitating the end of black ones."

In addition, the musician later shared a link to The 1975 song "Love It If We Made It" that features the lyrics, "Selling melanin and then suffocate the black men."

Fans and online users immediately called out Healy for his actions, leading him to share a public apology where he explained himself, saying he didn't mean for the situation to be about him, but rather the linked track is about "this disgusting situation."
