Frank Ocean's Coachella performance was one of the most highly anticipated moments of the six-day arts and music festival.

Although there have been criticisms on his first performance in years, the singer has given a rather substantial update about his new project - a Frank Ocean new album!

Frank Ocean in Coachella

On Apr. 16, 2023, on the third day of Coachella Weekend 1, Frank Ocean hit the stage for his first major public appearance in years. He was supposed to be the headliner of Coachella 2020, but since the festival was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, Ocean was benched for a while.

It was announced that the following year at Coachella 2021 that Frank Ocean would return along with Adele and Kanye West. However, that did not materialize too because of the same reasons.

To everyone's shock, when Coachella 2022 was announced, he was missing from the set. Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Kanye West (later replaced by The Weeknd) took over.

When the headliners for Coachella 2023 were announced, fans who had been experiencing Frank Ocean drought were finally revitalized to hear that he would finally be performing on his long overdue headlining performance.

Frank Ocean New Album 2023

During his set, Ocean became intimate with his fans, saying that it has been "so long" and that he missed everybody.

"I wanna talk about why I'm here, 'cos it's not because of a new album - not that there's not a new album - but there's not right now," he added.

Per Ocean, he had been in a rough patch for the last couple of years as his life "changed so much" after his brother's death. Ocean's brother Ryan Breaux died in a car crash in 2020. He used to go to Coachella with Frank.

Aside from the fact that he said that there would be a new album and new music coming soon, the singer has not disclosed more on the details of a Frank Ocean new album.

His last work was "Blonde" in 2016, his fourth studio album in total. According to NME, Ocean released new music as his theme song for his radio show, as a celebration for the ten years of his album, "Channel Orange" released in 2012.

As of this writing, Frank Ocean has neither revealed the album release date nor the album theme for his new album.
