Bruce Springsteen was born and raised in Long Branch, New Jersey. It was the place where he first formed an affinity, passion, and eventually love for music.

While his origins may be humble, Springsteen's achievements and accolades in music are anything but.

According to reports, the iconic musician was honored by his home state of New Jersey by having a "Bruce Springsteen Day," which will be held on September 23, his birthday.

"Bruce Springsteen is one of the most iconic and influential musicians - and New Jerseyans - of all time, period," announced Governor Phil Murphy.

Bruce Springsteen's Legacy

Springsteen began his career in the early 60s. All he had was an $18 guitar and a dream-he made it work.

Springsteen released his debut studio album "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J." in 9173, followed by "The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle" in 1973, "Born to run" in 91975, "Darkness on the Edge of Town: in 1978, and "The River" in 1980.

His wildly popular album "Born in the USA" was released in 1984, and was often referred to as one of the best albums of all time by critics.

"Born in the USA" earned seven Top 10 singles, like "Dancing in the Dark, "Born in the USA," "Glory Days," and "My Hometown," and it was nominated for a Grammy Award.

With all these achievements, it was certainly no surprise that Gov. Murphy insisted on bestowing the musician this honor.

"It is important we recognise Bruce for all he has done and will continue to do, from giving us the gift of his music to lending his time to the causes close to his heart, including making ... a repository that will inspire tomorrow's songwriters and singers," the Governor added.
