In a career setback, Jesy Nelson's latest single "Bad Thing" didn't make much noise on the charts.

Despite high expectations, Jesy Nelson's newest single, "Bad Thing," has not impacted the music charts.

This is incredibly disappointing for the former Little Mix singer as it was her second single since "Boyz" was released in October 2021, which also stirred up its fair share of controversy.

Despite its engaging and realistic portrayal of an abusive relationship, the ballad hasn't been featured in the Official Singles Chart Top 100 since it was updated on Sunday.

The music video, set in London's East End and has a 1970s aesthetic, has only been viewed 426,000 times - far from its million-view goal.

Nevertheless, domestic abuse charities have highly praised the film for its truthful depiction of the issue.

Ahead of its release, the former Little Mix star said, "I don't feel like anyone's heard this side of me before, it's a real, raw, honest, vulnerable side to me."

In 2021, a wave of criticism met the 31-year-old singer when she released her Nicki Minaj collaboration and its associated music video.

Accusations were made that she had engaged in the cultural appropriation by borrowing from black culture.

Having completed her tenure with Polydor Records, Jesy and the label decided to go their separate ways. Although on amicable terms, both agreed that it was best for them to part ways due to a divergence in musical direction.

In an interview, Jesy shared her journey of self-discovery and exploration. She revealed that being alone has propelled her to take more risks, grow and gain independence.

She declared how it has helped her become more empowered and discovered that she could make her music without relying on big record labels.

After Little Mix

Tuesday night saw Jesy Nelson take to Instagram to address a recent interview with The Sun, where she stated that it had been two years since she last spoke with her former Little Mix group-mates.

An emotional Jesy explained that the article was unfairly interpreted and mainly highlighted her departure from the band and the rumors of conflict between them.

"We haven't talked since then. Never say never, but I honestly wish them the best on their solo journeys now, which is so exciting."
