The 2023 Tony Awards nominations were already announced! While some of the categories are stacked and are due for a head-to-head battle, many believed some acts were snubbed for consideration.

"Some Like It Hot" leads the Tony Awards with 13 whopping nominations with Best Musical on the bag. "& Juliet," "New York, New York," and "Shucked," followed suit with nine nominations each, all including Best Musical too.

Check out the big snubs at the 2023 Tony Awards nominations:

'Bad Cinderella' Had The Most Appropriate Response

Andrew Lloyd Webber's controversial take on Cinderella was one of the biggest snubs in the Best Musical category, among others. But some people weren't as surprised as others with the snub, as it has been reviewed negatively by critics since it was opened.

As soon as the nominations were announced by Myles Frost and Lea Michele, and no mentions of "Bad Cinderella" were given - the official Twitter account of the show tweeted this:

Their response pretty much says everything!

The Phillipa Soo Erasure

We all know Phillipa from "Hamilton" as the great Eliza Schuyler. Originating one of the roles of one of the best wives in musical theatre history has made her in contention for the Best Leading Actress in a Musical back in 2015, but she eventually lost to Cynthia Erivo. Fans expected that she would be nominated as Guenevere for Loewe and Lerner's 2023 revival production of "Camelot."

Julie Andrews was nominated for the 1961 production of the musical, so many expected Soo to be nominated too. "Camelot" reaped five nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Jordan Donica, but Soo's nomination was nowhere to be found.

Twitter has called "Justice For Phillipa Soo" ever since they learned she was snubbed.

'1776' Falls Flat

With the expected ascent of "Hamilton" in 2015, one would expect that another musical about the founding fathers would be another hit. However, "1776" did not receive any nominations at all at this year's Tonys.

Oscar Isaac, Laura Linney, Danielle Brooks?

In the play categories, supposedly shoo-in actors like Laura Linney for "Summer, 1976," Oscar Isaac and Rachel Broshanan for "The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window," were shockingly not included in the nominations list despite their well-reviewed performances.

Former Tony nominee and Golden Globe nominee Danielle Brooks and John David Washington were also missing on the list for their outstanding performance in "The Piano Lesson," although Samuel L. Jackson was nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Play, and it is up for Best Revival.

Who do you think was snubbed at the 2023 Tony Awards?
