Days before "The Little Mermaid" swims to theatres, Halle Bailey just performed the first-ever live performance of "Part of Your World" on American Idol's "Disney Night" last Sunday, May 14, 2023.

As usual, the internet had nothing but praises and adoration for her very soulful rendition of the fan-favorite classic.

Bailey's vocals were on point and is at her best. Many have attested to hearing Bailey perform live before. In fact, during her auditions for the role, director Rob Marshall revealed that when she performed the song, no one has ever surpassed the bar she has set.

"She came in, and she sang 'Part of Your World,'" the director told British Vogue. "And by the end of it, I was crying. I couldn't believe the depth and the truth and the simplicity and passion she brought to the song. It was just so moving."

Hearing this before would have prepared anyone when they hear Bailey perform the song live. However, people seemed to have underestimated Bailey's vocals because what could be heard on the official studio recording - is definitely the same quality of vocals that she delivered on the live performance.

Not to mention how Princess looked she was in her blue gown - talk about a Disney princess coming alive! The entire set and castle were transformed into an underwater spectacle as live viewers held blue light sticks that seemingly mimicked jellyfish.

Fan Reactions

On the official video uploaded on Disney Channel's YouTube account, praises and compliments for Bailey were endless!

"I've never seen someone sing so flawlessly yet pour all the emotions they have into singing I came to tears just watching this video," a user wrote.

"Listening to this, I get it why she was selected. Such a perfect rendition of the song, so close to the original.. probably is the only talent that came close to sounding like Ariel," another commented.

"This is literally the first voice I've heard that made my cry. She brings out the little girl in me that was absolutely obsessed with Ariel. Literally breathtaking" someone gushed.

"The Little Mermaid" will swim to theaters on May 26, 2023.
