Former Iron Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno did not approve of Ghost's version of his former band's hit song, "Phantom of the Opera."

Ghost delivered good news to fans when it announced on Easter Sunday the arrival of its five-track cover album, "Phantomime." The band disclosed the music project months after concluding its Re-Imperatour shows and shared that it would have song covers of tracks by Television, Thunderdome, The Stranglers, Genesis, and Iron Maiden.

However, the latter's former member expressed his dismay soon after hearing the cover.

Ghost's 'Phantom of the Opera' Cover Frustrates Paul Di'Anno

Before leaving Iron Maiden, Di'Anno was able to become part of the band's two classic albums: the 1980 self-titled album and 1981 "Killer." He sang the original recording of Iron Maiden's "Phantom of the Opera" before he was replaced by Bruce Dickinson.

In a since-deleted Facebook post (with Metal Voice sharing the post's screenshot), Di'Anno commented on the cover on the same day Ghost released the version, saying that the cover "sucks."

"Paul Di'anno Gives his opinion on the new 'Phantom of the Opera' Iron Maiden cover by Ghost," the news outlet said, citing what the singer said: "Everyone asking my opinion on the ghost cover of phantom well not that it matters but it fkn sucks."

Iron Maiden and Ghost are yet to comment on Di'Anno's recent response to the "Phantom of the Opera" cover.

Aside from "Phantom of the Opera," Ghost also covered Genesis' "Jesus He Knows Me," Thunderdome ft. Tina Turner's "We Don't Need Another Hero," Television's "See No Evil," and The Stranglers' "Hanging Around."

Why Was Paul Di'Anno Ousted From Iron Maiden?

Before Iron Maiden welcomed Bruce Dickinson, Di'Anno led the band only to get fired a few years later.

Previously, he sat for an issue of Metal Hammer during which the singer opened up about not blaming his former bandmates for getting rid of him. He also admitted to realizing that he could not give 100 percent of himself to the band anymore, and it would be unfair to everyone and their fans if he continued to do so.

Initial reports said Di'Anno was fired from Iron Maiden due to his party-heavy lifestyle, with the musician revealing he consumed cocaine 24 hours a day in the past.
