In response to recent reports of a relationship between pop star Taylor Swift and The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, fans of the singer have requested that she address his past controversies in an open letter.

There has been much focus on Healy due to his history of making derogatory comments.

In an open letter posted to Twitter called the #SpeakUpNow campaign, the 33-year-old popstar has been asked to "carefully consider the effects of her and those close to her actions" and take some time for honest reflection.

Following recent events, concerned fans have asked that attention be drawn to the controversial behavior of Matty and that more than a simple apology should be made.

An official statement from fans commencing with "As concerned fans, we are writing to express our disappointment" has been requested from the "Lover" singer.

 

"You have recently been seen with and welcomed to your stage Matty Healy, the frontman of The 1975. He has been involved in acts and controversies that deeply trouble us."

Amongst other things, the letter talked about Matty had been making headlines of late for his controversial decisions.

Continuing from that point, the letter clarified that the "Anti-Hero" singer should be free to exercise her freedom about relationships as any other person would.

However, they believe that given her status in society, Taylor Swift also must speak out against discrimination and injustice, ultimately encouraging others around her to create a more equal world.

"Your voice holds tremendous power, and right now, your silence is palpable. This silence sends a message of indifference, particularly to the fans who have supported you."

The fans further said that the importance of advocating for inclusivity, celebrating diversity, and actively promoting empathy and understanding was once again reinforced to the Grammy award-winning singer.

The letter said that expressions such as these emphasize the need for personal and social transformation to create a brighter future.

The fans urged it is time for her to become a catalyst for change and support a healing journey.

Support for the social media letter was overwhelming, with numerous people declaring they had withdrawn their orders for her re-release of "Speak Now" album which is due to be out in July and some even admitting to selling tickets to her upcoming tour.

Talk of a potential relationship between Taylor Swift and Matty Healy has been making the rounds, not long after the public learned that Taylor and Joe Alwyn had ended their six-year relationship.
