This is not a drill! Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice are reported to collaborate on their next record together on the "Barbie" movie soundtrack, not only for a new and filler song for the record - but perhaps one of the biggest tracks of the movie!

In the past, many fans have clamored for the "Barbie Girl" song from Aqua to be included in the movie, but reports say that because of a wild lawsuit between the music group and Mattel years ago, the case would be highly unlikely.

Now, it seemed like the tables have turned and a few kinks were adjusted.

Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Aqua Collaborating On New 'Barbie Girl' Song?

Rolling Stone exclusively revealed the artists who will be on the Greta Gerwig "Barbie" Movie Soundtrack earlier today. The soundtrack is definitely stacked, as "big" could even be an understatement to describe the talent that is in the upcoming record.

Aside from the promised Dua Lipa song, Lizzo will also be there. PinkPantheress, Charli XCX, Ava Max, Dominic Fike, GAYLE, HAIM, Khalid, Karol G, Kali, Fifty Fifty, The KID LAROI, Tame Impala, and even Ryan Gosling himself.

Among the standouts were Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice. Notably, Minaj has held onto the "Barbie" title on her music and branding throughout the years. A year after her shot to fame, Mattel has given Minaj her very own Barbie with pink hair. She even has her own Rap Snacks dedicated to her. Barbz was even dismayed as the Barbie posters were revealed to find Minaj not involved in the project.

Hours after the announcement was made by Rolling Stone, a new trailer for "Barbie" was released. In the latter part of the video, toward to credits and the release date, a snippet of Nicki Minaj's song was included.

Surprisingly, it included a sample of Aqua's "Barbie Girl," and Minaj's iconic song - "It's Barbie if you're still in doubt." Uproxx has reported that a now-deleted Apple Music album has revealed that Ice Spice and Aqua are also working on the said record.

However, Aqua being on the project is quite surprising considering the lengthy lawsuit it got entangled with Mattel back in 2002.

Mattel vs Aqua on 'Barbie Girl' Explained

Back in 2002, Mattel launched a lawsuit against MCA Records claiming that Danish group Aqua infringed on the toymaker's doll patent and violated the Barbie trademark that turned Barbie into a sex object, among many other claims.

However, a California court moved to dismiss the case, siding over Aqua. However, years later, it seemed Mattel have embraced the song and released a modified version of it on their YouTube account in 2009 as The New York Times reported.

With the said snippet sampling Aqua, the years-long feud between the two companies may have settled and culminated in this upcoming cultural reset that is the "Barbie" movie and its soundtrack.
