When Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke up after six years of dating, fans began to speculate that her recently released album "Midnights" was a breakup album.

However, there were several songs that opposed the fan theory, like the song "Sweet Nothings," which was co-written by the actor and singer, or "Hits Different."

The theory resurfaced again when Swift revealed a new song in "Midnights (The Late Night Edition)" titled "You're Losing Me."

It seems like this time, though, it would be harder to disprove that "Midnights" is not a breakup album, especially after fans began decoding the "real" messages behind several other songs on the album, like "Glitch," "Lavender Haze," and "Midnight Rain."

Vault Track

In layman's terms, a Swift song that says "From the Vault" means it was initially intended to be included in the album, but somehow did not make it to the final tracklist.

The term might be familiar because Swift has used the term in her rerecorded albums "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)."

This is the first time Swift is releasing a vault track from a non-Taylor's Version album, which is probably why fans are losing their minds.

The pre-chorus goes: "Do I throw out everything we built or keep it?/ I'm getting tired even for a phoenix/ Always risin' from the ashes/ Mendin' all her gashes/ You might just have dealt the final blow."

Fans have also begun connecting some lines from the bridge to other lines from her songs.

"And I wouldn't marry me either/ A pathological people pleaser/ Who only wanted you to see her" was paralleled to "Lavender Haze" which includes the lyrics: "All they keep askin' me/ Is if I'm gonna be your bride/ The only kind of girl they see/ Is a one-night or a wife."

Breakup Songs

Swift is known to write songs about her heartbreaks like "Dear John" from "Speak Now" which was dedicated to John Mayer, or the famous "All Too Well" dedicated to Jake Gyllenhaal.

Unlike the aforementioned songs, "You're Losing Me" has a distinctly different tone, as Swift sings about her dilemma: whether she should stay in a relationship or let it go.

"Now, I just sit in the dark and wonder if it's time/ Do I throw out everything we built or keep it?"
