Tommy Stinson revealed how Axl Rose reacted when he left Guns N' Roses.

The Rose-fronted band lost Stinson in 2014 after the former bassist decided to leave the group to focus on his family. Guns N' Roses then welcomed Duff McKagan to continue its South American tour without Stinson.

Nearly a decade after he exited, the former member opened up about the experience and Rose's reaction to his departure.

Axl Rose Upset Over Tommy Stinson's Exit

The former Guns N' Roses bassist appeared on the latest episode of the "Appetite For Distortion" podcast, during which he addressed his exit from the band in 2014. According to Stinson, he got into a situation where he needed to leave his band and be home.

Stinson also shared how Rose reacted to his decision, saying the frontman did not "appreciate it" at all.

"[And] the tours that were being talked about, I had to make that kind of decision. And it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, that I had no choice about; I really had to do it," he said. "It put me in a bad light with Axl, obviously, 'cause he was upset with that and didn't appreciate that at all."

He noted how Rose would be glad it happened if the singer chose to look back in the past. He said the frontman would know he made the right decision to continue with the tour with AC/DC even after the bassist left them.

With that, Stinson could not imagine his former bandmate not feeling grateful for how things turned out.

Tommy Stinson Continues Supporting Guns N' Roses

Despite leaving the band, Stinson reportedly attended a couple of Guns N' Roses concerts with his buddy, Steve. He recalled seeing people surprised as they saw him around the concert venue, but he always told them he was only there to see the show like them.

His recent comment resonated with what he told Rolling Stone in 2017. At that time, the musician disclosed he did not plan to quit Guns N' Roses, but he had to say to them his departure since he could not tour while feeling so screwed up.

Although he is no longer a member of the band, Stinson shared that they recorded a number of materials during his stint with Guns N' Roses which are yet to be released.
