Celine Dion's lingering health issues led to the cancelation of the remainder of her tour.

Dion delivered the saddening news to fans in an announcement Thursday, revealing she was "unable to successfully prepare for and perform" the remaining dates of her tour amid her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis. As a result, she canceled her tour dates through April 2024.

Why Celine Dion Canceled Her Tours

The 55-year-old "The Power of Love" hitmaker's health issue ultimately affected her tours, but a source revealed the real reason why she decided to cancel her shows.

In an exclusive statement to People, the insider said Dion ended up canceling the concerts "to be fair to the fans." She reportedly made the move in the best interest of her supporters, who have been with her since she learned about her health diagnosis.

Still, the source clarified that Dion aims to tour again soon.

"The goal is for her to tour again for sure, but once she is better," the source said. "Right now, she's focusing on her health. She couldn't keep postponing shows - it wasn't fair to the fans."

Dion has since apologized to her fans over the unexpected move, sharing how her medical condition prevents the crooner from performing. The statement assured fans that the singer's medical team continues to evaluate and treat the condition.

Celine Dion's Health Issue

Fans learned about Dion's health struggles for the first time in October 2021 when the singer announced the postponement of her supposed Las Vegas residency.

At that time, however, she described it as "severe and persistent" muscle spasms.

Yale Medicine describes Celine Dion's health diagnosis as something that leads muscles in the limbs and torso to suffer spasms and rigidity. These episodes can be triggered by loud noises, emotional distress, and other certain stimuli, although they can also happen randomly.

As of press time, the cause of the rare disease remains unknown, and the medical field is yet to perform further studies to learn more about the disorder.

Before she was diagnosed with it, the "To Love You More" singer also suffered several health issues in the past, including her patulous eustachian tube dysfunction that caused her to undergo ear surgery.

There were also rumors that she suffered from an eating disorder, though Dion never addressed it in any of her shows or interviews.
