Hip-Hop has been around for as long as many can remember, but apparently, it is only turning 50 this year.

According to Consequence of Sound, some of hip-hop's biggest stars and legendary rappers will be celebrating the genre at one of the cities that gave life and culture to hip-hop; the event will be held at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York on Aug. 11.

This year's lineup will consist of a variety of hip-hop's most decorated rappers: Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Run DMC, Ice Cube, as well as T.I. Fat Joe, Common, A$AP Ferg, EPMD, Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco, and $lick Rick.

Of course, the lineup will also include the Queens of Hip-Hop like Lil Kim, Trina, Remy Ma, and Eve.

Other artists included are DJ Kool Hero and Cindy Campbell, Grandmaster Caz, Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, Roxanne Shante, Scorpio, Sugar Hill Gang, Battlecat, Clark Kent, Mannie Fresh, and Marley Marl.

Where and How to Get Tickets?

Live Nation will host a pre-sale for Hip-Hop 50 Live which will commence on Jun 8. Fans can use the access code DISCO to cop tickets ahead of time.

Fans who were not able to get tickets during pre-sale can still try again with the general sale which is slated for the following day, Jun 9, via Ticketmaster.

50th Anniversary

Although this is currently the only concert being held celebrating the foundation of hip-hop, there have been other events that have hosted and celebrated its foundation.

According to reports, back in February, during the Grammy Awards, several artists came together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

It included Missy Elliott, Big Boi, Queen Latifah, Method Man, Busta Rhymes, Public Enemy, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Run DMC.

However, Hip-Hop 50 Live is on a different level. It will be more focused on the sound of hip-hop, as well as the pillars and the rappers behind its success.

This was shown in the division of each set for the concert: the pillars of hip-hop set, legendary DJ set, and Queen of hip-hop set.

Despite the announced lineup, fans should probably expect that there might be more special surprise guests that will most definitely turn up on the day of the concert.
