Chance The Rapper is one proud Chicagoan and he made it known as he congratulated the Jackie Robinson West Little League team during a parade in the city.

During a brief speech, an excited Chance commended the team on their major accomplishment.

"It's not often we get a chance to learn a lesson in leadership and teamwork, ambition and humility at the same time," he said to the large crowd. "You seen them play it. It's seldom that you learn that lesson from the perspective of someone in their senior."

As reported by XXL, the team became the first all-black team to win the U.S. Little League Championship. They would go on to play South Korea for the Little League World Series only to lose after a four-game winning streak.

Chance The Rapper truly believes in staying active in the things that go on in the city he calls home. Back in May, he joined his father to start a social media campaign to combat the escalating murder rate in Chicago.

He took to Twitter using the hashtag #SaveChicago while a grassroots campaign took to the streets with posters and banners that read #SAVECHICAGO.

The city saw 42 hours of peace and non-shootings, which Chance attributed to the launch of the campaign.

"When I was in LA My pops asked me to help with a project. He was tryin to get Community Org's in CHI to prevent every murder on Memorial Day. He had talked to Churches, Schools, Outreach Prog's and Business's, trying to get them to commit to saving every life possible yesterday. The plan was to get these mass numbers of people out on street corners Friday night with posters and banners with the plea "#SAVECHICAGO." His plan was to get radio stations like @WGCI and @Power92Chicago to say "PUT YOUR GUNS DOWN CHICAGO" every hour on the hour the week before. All he asked of me was to say something on social media. And so I did ambiguously through tweets that hinted at an album, or a song #MAY23rd. And even though I was outta town I checked in constantly. Come to FIND OUT WE WENT 42 HOURS FROM THURSDAY TO SATURDAY NIGHT W/O ONE SHOOTING."
