Coco Lee Man, a well-known singer-songwriter who was born in Hong Kong, committed suicide on Wednesday at the age of 48, according to her family.

Coco Lee Cause of Death

On social media tonight, Lee's sisters shared the tragic news that she had struggled with depression for many years and had killed herself on Sunday, July 2, at her home.

She passed away on Wednesday while still in a coma at Queen Mary Hospital. The family also stated that Lee's condition has severely gotten worse over the previous few months.

Even though the "Before I Fall In Love" singer tried her best to overcome despair and sought professional assistance, the demon inside of her ultimately won.

This year was scheduled to mark CoCo's singing career's 30th anniversary. "CoCo is known to have worked tirelessly to open up a new world for Chinese singers in the international music scene, and she went all out to shine for the Chinese," her family said. "We are proud of her!"

The Hong Kong-born "A Love Before Time" vocalist entered the music business in 1994, which resulted in the production of over 15 albums and tens of millions of dollars in sales.

In December 1999, her song "Do You Want My Love" peaked at number four on the US Billboard charts. In the Mandarin adaptation of Disney's Mulan, Lee is best recognised for providing the voice of Fa Mulan.

"We hope that everyone will not only miss CoCo, but also share her bright smile, treat people with sincerity, and convey kindness and love to everyone around us," Lee's sisters wrote on the social platform. "And continue CoCo's wish to let everyone around feel her love and happiness."

Although CoCo Lee and her spouse Bruce Rockowitz did not have any biological children together, they did have two adult daughters together. In order to conceive a child, Coco acknowledged in 2018 that she has been undergoing in-vitro fertilisation (IVF). She said that she and her spouse hope to have two children when asked how many. At the time, she clarified that a kid is a gift from God. It would not matter if it failed.
