Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker is celebrating a milestone as he officially had his 30th airplane ride since he stopped doing so after the infamous airplane crash in 2008.
Thanks to his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, the drummer mustered up the courage again to ride the plane.
Travis Barker Airplane Crash Explained
In September 2008, Barker was supposed to head to Van Nuys, California on a private plane. However, while they were on the runway, the passengers heard a loud bang. Pilots were told that a tire had blown at the time. (via Today)
"I opened a door, and my hands caught fire. I ran to get out of the plane, but I fell through a wing. I immediately soaked up with jet fuel and caught fire. And then I was on fire, running like hell. I was running for my family: I didn't care about anything except being with my dad, my sister, Shanna, my three kids. I'm completely naked, holding my genitals-everything else is on fire-and I'm running, trying to put myself out," Barker recalled at the time.
He and Adam Goldstein were the only survivors of the crash. The pilots, his personal assistant Chris Baker, and security members were all dead. At the time, they were transported to Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Georgia and were listed as critical. Not more than a year, Goldstein died of an overdose while Barker suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Barker then spent 11 weeks in the hospital and burn centers. He had 16 surgeries in total and numerous skin grafts and blood transfusions. There was even a time in which amputation became a choice.
Even before he flew, Barker has a fear of flying in airplanes. He hasn't flown in an airplane until only in 2021, months after he and Kourtney Kardashian met.

Travis Barker Celebrates 30th Flight Since 2008
In a Threads post, Barker celebrated with his followers the accomplishment of having to fly his 30th flight since the 2008 crash.
"Just flew for the 30th time since my plane crash. Wouldn't be able to tour or enjoy life again the way I do without the healing love of my amazing wife. I love you," he said.
After their secret wedding, Barker and Kardashian will be welcoming their baby boy.
