Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift's fame both affected their relationships with their exes, Dalton Gomez and Joe Alwyn, respectively, an expert claimed.

Two of the biggest breakups in the industry happened this year after Swift-Alwyn and Grande-Gomez broke up. Although both ex-couples had ideal relationships that other people wished to have, they soon ended what they had due to the singers' popularity.

Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift's Exes Could Not Keep Up With Them

Grande and Dalton's split emerged this month, with unnamed sources saying they already called it quits in January as the real estate agent struggled to adjust his life with Gomez's spotlight. The same thing happened to Alwyn, who also had a hard time keeping up with Swift's level of fame.

Following the breakups, the question of why men find it hard to date "powerful and famous women" emerged, per The Mirror. Per fans, Gomez and Alwyn seemingly did not understand that they loved women who were among the most famous people in the industry.

Senior therapist and relationship expert Sally Baker from "Working On The Body" told the news outlet that "societal expectations and traditional gender roles can challenge these scenarios" indeed affect relationships where women are more powerful than men.

According to Baker, men - historically - have been the providers in relationships, so they become the more successful and more powerful partners.

"Ariana Grande, Dalton Gomez, Taylor Swift, and Joe Alwyn were all in high-profile relationships where the women were arguably more famous and successful," the expert explained. "It's essential to note that fame isn't just about success-it's a lifestyle that comes with constant scrutiny, pressure, and a lack of privacy."

The relationship expert explained that the reason behind the breakups was not men being less successful; instead, it was more about Gomez and Alwyn being unaccustomed and ill-prepared to handle such a high-profile lifestyle.

Joe Alwyn, Dalton Gomez Probably Felt Overwhelmed, Per Expert

Dating Swift and Grande led Alwyn and Gomez to experience intensified exposure, making them feel that "fame" was too much for both of them. Baker added that their self-esteem also played a significant role, especially since men feel insecure and inadequate if their female partners are more successful.

"It takes men who are secure in their self-worth to overcome societal expectations; the pressures of fame and self-esteem issues can make it challenging to maintain relationships with more successful or powerful women," she went on.

Despite the events, Baker noted that more men become more comfortable and supportive to their successful female partners as society evolves.
